Student Visa Course

This is a “Course for College Preparation” that allows students to obtain a college student visa and study
Japanese for 1 year and 3 months to 2 years. This course is designed for students who wish to enter a
Japanese university, graduate school, or vocational school.

The course meets students' needs for communication skills, preparation for the Japanese Language Proficiency
Test (JLPT), and essay guidance for entrance examinations. Students can further deepen their understanding
and improve their practical skills through careful explanations by professionals.

In addition, through cultural and extracurricular activities, students are able to integrate into Japanese society
and experience a variety of things. There are also opportunities to interact with students of the Japanese
language teacher training course, which is also available at the school, and we will support you to make your life
in Japan fruitful.

Eligibility Requirements

①Have completed at least 12 years of school education or an equivalent program.

②Must be at least 18 years of age, or have a high school diploma in their home country.

③Those who have been permitted or are expected to be permitted to enter Japan through lawful means.

④Have passed the N5 Japanese Language Proficiency Test or Level F J-Test and can submit a certificate of completion, or proof of receiving more than 150 hours of Japanese language education in their home country. (Some conditions apply)

⑤Have a reliable guarantor. (Only relatives)

⑥Those who can handle Speed Visa®.

⑦Those that have not applied for a college student visa in the past.

Course and Application Deadlines（We will close the application as soon as we reach the maximum number of students.）

◆Entrance in January 2025: 1 Year and 3 Months University Preparatory Course	【Completed】The deadline for application to our school is June 20, 2024.
◆Entrance in April 2025: 2 Years University Preparatory Course	【Completed】The deadline for application to our school is September 2, 2024.
◆ Entrance in July 2025: 1 Year and 9 Months University Preparation Course	【Completed】The deadline for application to our school is September 31, 2024.
◆ October 2025 Entrance: 1 Year 6 Months University Preparation Course	【Accepting applications】We are accepting applications from students who wish to enroll in October 2025. This course is designed for students who wish to enter a Japanese university or vocational school, and it takes 1 year and 6 months from enrollment to graduation. The deadline for applications to the College is expected to be around the early March 2025.

The difference of 普通科 between 専修科

We offers courses that last up to two years and a minimum of one year and three months. After April of the new school year, the first year is called 普通科 and the second year is called 専修科.

Graduate school 1.6%, University 8.2%, Vocational school 57.4%, Employment or return to Japan 32.8%, for an
overall advancement rate of 67.2%. (March 2024)

After graduating from International Academy, many international students have gone on to Hokkaido University,
Hokkaido University Graduate School (national), Hokkaido University of Education (national), Obihiro University
of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine (national), Sapporo University (private), Sapporo Gakuin University
(private), Sapporo International University (private), and other schools.

In addition, all of the foreign staff supporting international students at International Academy IAY Japanese
Language Courses are graduate students of Hokkaido University.

They are especially close to international students who wish to study at Hokkaido University.

Flow from Application to Admission

The preliminary examination form

Please download and send the preliminary examination form to the school.

Step.1

Send the preliminary examination form to the school

Download and fill out the preliminary examination form and then send it to info@myiay.com. Applicants will be notified of their success or failure, and successful applicants will receive a Speed Visa® invitation email and an invoice for the examination fee.

Step.2

Pay the examination fee

Pay the examination fee of 22,000 yen and enter the personal information into Speed Visa®.

Step.3

Fill out Speed visa® and send the required original documents

Enter “the Payment of Expenses" in Speed Visa® and upload "certificate documents". After the school has checked the information you entered, if there are no errors, you will be notified of the required documents, so please send us the originals by mail. If you would like to make accommodation arrangements or airport transportation, please make a reservation in advance.

Step.4

Certificate of Eligibility (COE) will be issued

Our school will apply for a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) on your behalf. After the Certificate of Eligibility (COE) is issued, an invoice for tuition fees will be sent to the student. After confirming the payment, we will immediately mail the original Certificate of Eligibility (COE).

Apply for and obtain a visa

Apply for a visa to enter Japan at a Japanese embassy or consulate overseas.

Step.6

Enter the country after contacting the school with the arrival flight

Book your flight and inform the school of your flight and arrival time.

Part-time Work

Part-time work is limited to 28 hours per week after obtaining a Permit to Engage in Activity other than that Permitted under the Status of Residence.
Failure to comply with this rule will not only result in denial of renewal of a student visa or conversion toa work visa, but may also result in deportation for illegal employment.

Preparation for Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU)

The Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU) is used to evaluate the Japanese language skills and basic academic abilities required by Japanese universities (undergraduate schools) for international students who wish to enter a Japanese university (undergraduate school) or other such institution.

We provide various kinds of support, such as career guidance, to international students who wish to enter
Japanese universities and vocational schools.

For students who are of Chinese culture (China, Taiwan, HK, etc.), we have partnered with Linc Corporation,
which provides online services to support various life events in Japan, including education, higher education,
and employment.

In addition to career guidance provided by the IAY Japanese Language Courses, Linc provides online career
guidance and similarly online EJU preparation courses.
